About Mahncke Park

Due to issues that arose from garden planning, the grant money has been returned and the garden is not going forward.  Please use the pocket parks in Mahncke Park as excellent resources for open space to play, walk your dog, and hang out with friends!

Developed by neighbors, businesses, community organizations, schools and other interested groups, the Mahncke Park Neighborhood Plan represents an update to the original plan adopted in 1983 by the San Antonio City Council as a component of the Master Plan.

If you happen to see a house going up or some neighborhood construction and think it might not have the right permits, just call the code compliance department of the city.  Their number is 207-1111.  Mahncke Park is a City of San Antonio Municipal Conservation District Neighborhood and we want to make sure that the standards are kept by all who currently reside in Mahncke Park, as well as those moving in or building.  Thanks for keeping up the vigilance!

Mahncke Park connects the San Antonio Botanical Gardens to Brackenridge Park. Neighborhood was built around Mahncke Park.

In the 19th century, the city's Water Works Company was privately owned by George W. Brackenridge. Company lands included today's University of Incarnate Word, Brackenridge Park, Mahncke Park and the San Antonio Botanical Gardens.

Like most organizations, the Mahncke Park Neighborhood Association has a set of Bylaws that govern the group. Our Bylaws were last amended on 21 October, 1997 by the General Membership. Mahncke Park Neighborhood Association Organizational Bylaws.
